April is National Poetry Month

national poetry monthApril is National Poetry Month, and that means the return of the Rodgers Memorial Library's Annual Poetry Contest! 

Prizes are donated by the Friends of the Library and will be awarded in five age categories:

  • Second grade and younger,
  • Grades 3-5,
  • Grades 6-8,
  • Grades 9-12 and
  • Adults ages 18 and older.

You can enter in one of three ways:

  1. Complete the "2021 Rodgers Library Poetry Contest" form below.
  2. Submit your poem on paper. Please include your name, grade (or 'adult') and phone number on your entry and drop it off at the library during operating hours. Click here to see our current hours.
  3. Email Adult Services Librarian Amy Friedman amyfriedman@rodgerslibrary.org. Include the poem into the body of the email, or attach it in PDF or Microsoft Word format.

There will be a Zoom prize ceremony and poetry reading at 4pm, Thursday, April 22. Anyone who submits a poem may read their entry as long as the subject matter is appropriate for general audiences. Register for the awards ceremony by clicking here.
