1. Circulation Librarian (Full time)

George H. & Ella M. Rodgers Memorial Library in Hudson, NH, a member of GMILCS (the Greater Manchester InterLibrary Consortial System), is seeking an energetic and customer service-oriented individual to become our Circulation Librarian. This position reports directly to the Library Director and is responsible for planning, organizing and managing the proper function of the circulation department on a daily basis, including overseeing the work of one full-time assistant librarian and several part-time library assistants. 

This is a full-time position, 40 hours/week.

In This Role You Will:      

  • Train new staff and communicate regularly with circulation staff regarding changes in policy, procedures and practice.
  • Participate in circulation staff evaluations.
  • Participate in material selection and collection management for Adult Services.
  • Collect statistics and prepare monthly reports.
  • Represent RML in the CIRC/ILL group – an official group of GMILCS.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

You Will Need To Be:

  • Friendly and outgoing; able to work with patrons and coworkers.
  • Able to work with minimal direct supervision.
  • Proficient in the use of Integrated Library Systems (ILS).

You Will Need To Have:

  • An ALA/ Masters of Library Information Science degree is preferred. Will consider a bachelor’s degree equivalent OR extensive para-librarian experience in Circulation.
  • Some knowledge of supervisory practices and principles.
  • Extensive, proven customer service experience.
  • Strong communication, writing and speaking skills.

You Will Receive:

  • Starting salary of $20.00/hr. based on experience.

Schedule: Must be able to work evenings, Saturdays (9-1) and Sundays (1-5) as part of the regular rotation.

 

2. Youth Services Programming Assistant (Part time)
The library is also seeking a part-time Youth Services Programming Assistant to join our Youth Services Programming team. Our ideal candidate has knowledge of child development or has experience working with children. The Youth Services Assistant will engage children and families, and enhance their experience at the library. We are looking for someone who has some experience creating and leading preschool and elementary children’s programs or is eager to learn these skills. A former teacher with a passion for literacy and fun would be a great fit. This is a permanent part-time position, 20-24 hours per week. 

In This Role You Will:

  • Ensure all young people feel welcome at the library.
  • Build rapport with young customers to enrich their library experience.
  • Assist the Youth Services Librarian in creating and leading regularly scheduled youth programming activities.
  • Provide assistance to patrons including making recommendations of materials.
  • Perform daily circulation tasks.

You Will Need To Be:

  • Friendly, outgoing, and able to work with children and their caregivers.
  • Able to work with minimal direct supervision.
  • Able to supervise children’s use of the library, including setting boundaries and redirecting as needed.

You Will Need To Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Will consider High school diploma or equivalent PLUS substantial experience working with children.
  • Customer Service experience.
  • Knowledge of child development and/or experience working with children.
  • Strong communication, writing, and speaking skills. 

You Will Earn:

  • Salary range starts at $12.50/hour based on experience.
