A committee of children's librarians from around the state selects 10 picture book titles each spring. Then, during November, New Hampshire children from preschoolers to those in third grade choose the award winner. The winning picture book is announced at the end of the year.Caldecott Medal Picture Book Winners This medal is to be given to the artist who had created the most distinguished picture book of the year and named in honor of the nineteenth-century English illustrator Randolph J. Caldecott. Newbery Award Winners and Honorable MentionsThe Newbery Medal is awarded annually by the American Library Association for the most distinguished American children's book published the previous year.
